About

I am Karen Ann Jensen Miller, born in Hackensack New Jersey on January 19, 1955. I am blessed to have wonderful parents, a great sister and brother, a fabulous husband and great in-laws, a beautiful and talented daughter, and lots and lots of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and even a grand neice, and lots of girlfriends! I’ve been in the banking business since 1973, getting my start as a teller at Liberty National Bank in Hillsdale NJ, a bank that my father started. I own a company called Sterling Miller (www.sterlingmiller.com , blog at www.sterlingmiller.wordpress.com ) that helps banks and credit unions achieve their balance sheet goals. I love my work because it’s hard to do, but carries with it a great sense of satisfaction.

One of my hobbies is a great love for a breed of dog called “Borzoi” or Russian Wolfhound, as they were called many years ago. My husband, Kevin and I have owned them for over twenty years and for ten years or so have raised them and shown them ( www.mikajeborzoi.com , blog at www.highmeadowfarm.wordpress.com ). They are a great source of satisfaction for both of us because they are wonderful creatures to live with and are living, breathing works of art. I also love photography and art.

Since I found out that I have cancer, I’ve decided that I will treat this journey as a new project, just like  learning photography, learning digital photograhy, starting Sterling Miller, breeding dogs, learning to show dogs, or taking on a new bank client that has challenges to face, and needs their own success story in order to survive.

If you are a cancer survivor, or a family member or friend has a story to share, please send it to me at karen@sterlingmiller.com or karen@mikajeborzoi.com . Success stories are important for everyone to read, because they are reality. Cancer changes everything, but in some ways for the better.

  1. Hi Karen,
Kris emailed me, and if there is anything I know, it is that you have the determination and will to beat this. After all- you are a Jensen!
We hope that things work out that you and Kevin will be able to make the trip to NY. It would be wonderful to see you.
    Love,
    Peggy
